Dr. Surendra Bansal to retire

Dr. Surendra Bansal will retire this week after 45 years of service at Mercy Hospital of Pittsburgh/UPMC Mercy Hospital. After obtaining his medical degree in India, Dr. Bansal completed a residency in radiology and a fellowship in cardiovascular radiology in Philadelphia. He then spent several years in Canada, first as a teaching fellow and researcher, and then as a staff radiologist and Instructor. He came to Pittsburgh in 1971 as a Senior Active Staff Member at Mercy and quickly became Chief of the Angiographic Section. Throughout his career, he has provided outstanding care to patients and support of colleagues. The Department will hold a gathering on June 22nd, from noon until 2:00 pm, in the UPMC Mercy Radiology conference room (room 3219D) to celebrate this milestone and thank him for all of the contributions that he has made over the years.
