Construction of New Radiology Department Completed

The 2-year, $48 million Presbyterian University Hospital Department of Radiology construction project has finally been completed with spectacular results. The new department highlights the central role of academic subspecialist radiologists in quality health care delivery, allows for future growth in subspecialty consultation, facilitates education of future radiologists, and most importantly, improves the experience of both inpatients and outpatients during their brief stays in the department.

Improvements include:
  • A more dignified, inviting, patient experience from registration through discharge.
  • Large, state-of-the-art subspecialty-based reading rooms outfitted with IT infrastructure to support consultative services throughout UPMC and elsewhere, and located close to globally upgraded modalities that maximize direct interactions between radiologists, technical support staff and patients.
  • A central educational area that contains a large multipurpose conference area, resident learning labs, PA/fellow offices and a resident lounge.
  • Physician and administrative offices close to the clinical department.
